Building Disputes

Building works are not works that we undertake lightly and placing your trust in a building contractor can be a daunting prospect, made all the more difficult if problems emerge during or following the works which are not capable of being resolved through discussion between the parties. The absence of any written agreement or contract may complicate matters.

It is important to collate and retain documentation in respect of the damage as it is often the case that surveyors, architects or other experts are required to investigate the nature and extent of the problem and the cost of repairs.

Do check your house contents insurance policy as you may have legal expenses insurance which might cover your legal costs for investigating a legal action if necessary.

Our litigation team has extensive experience in dealing with building disputes and have in the past acted in cases ranging from small claims matters against plumbers and sole tradesman to High Court commercial actions arising from defective renovation works.

If you wish to pursue an action against a builder or contractor, contact Ciaran McConnell or Emily Paisley for free initial advice and guidance as to your options.
