Jonathan Duncan


Jonathan has over 15 years of experience in dealing with complex asbestos related disease claims throughout Northern Ireland.  He has acted on behalf of workers and their family members exposed to asbestos directly and/or indirectly at various sites throughout Northern Ireland including shipyards, Power Stations and in the building trade.   He has secured substantial settlements on behalf of victims and their families involving fatal (mesothelioma) and non-fatal disease claims, both in Northern Ireland and other jurisdictions.


His current caseload also encompasses complex road traffic accident claims, and other Industrial disease claims including Hearing Loss and Vibration White Finger claims.


Jonathan also heads the Newtownards Criminal Practice, representing clients in both the Crown and Magistrates’ Courts throughout Northern Ireland.

Career Highlights

  • A large six-figure settlement secured on behalf of a client suffering from terminal asbestos related cancer mesothelioma.  This claim was expedited on the client’s instructions and resolved promptly with the Defendant Insurer.
  • A substantial settlement secured on behalf of a client with significant occupational Noise Induced Hearing Loss and Tinnitus;
  • Representing a client involved in a Partnership dispute involving complex asset valuation ;
  • Assisted in securing a £3million settlement in a RTA acquired brain injury case.
