This year we are supporting the charity Extern with their Christmas giving and have opted to donate our annual Christmas card costs to the social justice charity. The donation will help Extern deliver support to over 5,000 clients as part of their work with families, homelessness and creating safer communities across Northern Ireland.
Annually Extern provides over 11,000 beds and food to homeless people in its Belfast Centre as well as providing intensive family support to over 2,873 young people and their families. Last year the charity helped 2,264 vulnerable adults in need of their assistance.
Welcoming this donation, Extern Chief Executive, Charlie Mack, said;
“At Extern we never walk away, and we are delighted that Worthingtons Solicitors have joined us to support our work. Homelessness is a huge issue here in Belfast, indeed across Ireland. We are dealing with a rise in homelessness, which is particularly high in young males, and as service providers we are overwhelmed by the number of people asking for support. In addition our services to young families and vulnerable adults are at full capacity. There is a huge demand for Externs services and we are always ready to empower our clients to face their many challenges. This very generous donation from Worthingtons will help us continue to support those who turn to Extern for help 365 days a year.”
Explaining our decision to support Extern, Celia Worthington, Senior Partner, added;
“As a leading Belfast legal firm, we are acutely aware of the difficulties experienced by young people, families and vulnerable adults. We support many such cases through our work. Helping Extern to deliver for families and adults here makes perfect sense for us as we know our donation will find its way to support the individuals most in need. The fact that Extern never walks away assures us that our support is well placed to help people in need locally.”
