This is an important time for charities in Northern Ireland as they are called forward for registration at The Charities Commission for Northern Ireland. The job of the Commission is to act as an independent regulator of charities in Northern Ireland ensuring that charities are meeting their legal requirements.
We have specialist lawyers who can advise on these legal requirements and on current legislation as it affects charities, the obligations on trustees, committee members and officers, the differing types of structures available to charities and the form and content of constitutional documents We currently advise a number of local charities in relation to all aspects of the law as it affects them.
All charities should be aware of the role of the Charities Commission which has a number of informative guidance notes on its web site
